Abstract

Salerno’s Medical School (SMS) is an indelible mark in the history of medicine, in the concept of health and in medical education. Its contribution stands for the development of research and writing scientific papers, with eminently practical character, for the treatment of diseases. This historiographical biography presents previous aspects to the emergence of SMS; its origins; life and medical education during its peak period; prolonged decline and, finally, extinction by decree. Their most renowned masters and their works, over time, are also listed. The women, students and teachers, active in the teaching center are also mentioned, emphasizing the unusual of this fact. The primary purpose of this work is to contribute to International Cosmoethics Conscientiological Community’s participants in their research, due the often quote by Professor Waldo Vieira, that many volunteers, in previous lives, have passed in the Salernitana School.
